Trust isn’t something to be conjured up and gazed upon but rather to be built and held fast for its strength lies in its fragility.

To be trusted is a good feeling. Actually, I should say that a little differently… To be trusted based on truth is a good feeling.

On the other hand, trust gained by lies is not really trust at all. That’s a contrived trust manipulated by deceit.

We all know that trust is a fragile thing. Once you’ve earned it, you’ve got to work to maintain it. One little lapse and trust can become very slippery–making it very hard to hold onto.

That’s where truth comes in… As it turns out, the tree of trust is watered only by truth.

Unlike trust, the truth cannot be manipulated.

Have you ever looked at a gazing ball in a flower garden? Sometimes, if the position of the sun changes or maybe we tilt our head a little differently, the color of the gazing ball can change.

The truth isn’t like that. It doesn’t matter how long we look at it or what we do to change it, it’ll only be what it is–regardless of our perspective or interpretation.

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, we see the disciples and Jesus in a boat. Everything is going well until a violent storm comes up. The disciples became frightened so they woke Jesus from His sleep. He then performed one of his most “famous” miracles and calmed the storm. Then, He asked them, “Where is your faith?“. In other words, “Where is your trust?

Have you ever wondered why the disciples woke Jesus up? Did they do it so they could hand him an oar and help paddle their way out of danger? Probably not.

If you think about it, we’re a lot like the disciples in the boat. Even though we’ve seen God guide us through many difficulties, we still have fear.

So, pray for peace in the troubled waters of this life. Trust in Jesus. He will calm the storms.

Luke 8 : 22 – 25

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.

23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
