Take comfort in the mundane monotony of the middle ground for the peaks and valleys are home to selfishness, jealousy, blame, and anger.

Have you ever heard the saying “Shoot for the stars!”?

Probably so… and there’s nothing wrong with striving for excellence. In fact, it’s a goal that would serve us well in most everything we do in life.

Today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. post is not saying anything to the contrary.

We’re talking about how we deal with the results.

We often miss the mark of excellence… And many times, falling short of our goal creates anxiety, disappointment, and anger.

As Christians, our joy and appreciation should come from glorifying God – not basking in our own accomplishments.

Is Tiny Words. Big Life. suggesting that we shouldn’t strive for achieving personal success? Absolutely not.

The issue is one of giving credit where credit is due.

When we see our successes as something we did ourselves, we push God’s blessings to the background.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. “AHA!” moment is this: Be thankful for everything because everything comes from God. Rejoice in success and give Him thanks for all of life’s ups and downs.

When we only see success in being successful, we miss entirely the success of learning from our failures.

Proverbs 2:6-8

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
