Rejoice in learning that even your enemies have overcome obstacles because it reminds us that it can be done.

1 John 5:3-5

I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want my enemies to overcome obstacles. In fact, I want obstacles to impede them.

Why?

Because that’s what’s best for me.

So who are your enemies?

Depending upon your political preferences, you might think your enemies are the ones that oppose your views on governance. Or, it could be the people in the world that want to destroy our way of life, a.k.a. “terrorists” – just because we’re Americans. Either of those definitions seem logical.

Am I suggesting that we should rejoice when “those people” overcome obstacles? Am I to be happy when they become more capable of destroying me?

The short answer is “No.”

Today’s quote tells us to “rejoice in learning” that they’ve overcome obstacles. Big difference…

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, the Apostle John is reminding us that we’re the Children of God. Those who don’t believe in the word of God, through His son Jesus Christ, are essentially “enemies of God”.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray for confidence in overcoming the obstacles in your life, through faith in God and belief in His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray that your faith is increased by observing all people, even your enemies, and use that faith in the spiritual battle that rages all around you.

Finally, as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, “love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you”.

If you do these things, obstacles will not only be cleared but they will serve as a ladder into Heaven, bringing you closer to God.

1 John 5:3-5

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
