Believe in yourself and you will do great things while unbelievers will watch great things being done.

2 Corinthians 3:3-5

Is it really that simple?

All you have to do is believe in yourself and great things will fall in your lap?

Well, yes. I believed that I could write a blog about some zany quotes I had running around in my head and tie them together with the word of God. Then, all of a sudden, a Tiny Word just fell into my Big Life!

And before you say, “Yeah, but that ain’t great.”, hang on a second… Great doesn’t have to be the discovery of electricity.

Great is doing something you want to do. Great is doing something that means something to you. Great is doing things for others. Great is doing something for God to use as He sees fit.

So, yeah. Great.

Ok, now that we’ve got our definitions straight…

So, yes, it’s that easy. All you gotta do is believe.

But, as it turns out, the easy thing is the hardest part.

You see, the Evil One, the ruler of this world, doesn’t want you to do great things. He would much rather have you despondent and wandering aimlessly through life – not thinking you can accomplish a single thing. That way, it’s much easier for him to keep you from doing things he’s against such as worshipping God and loving others.

So how do we believe in ourself?

Well, it’s real easy to say the words, isn’t it? They just roll off the tongue. “I believe. I believe. I believe.”

Done.

Okay, where’s my great stuff?

Let’s go back to the drawing board.

Greatness follows love. Before you can do great things, you’ve got to have love. By that I mean, you’ve got to love the people that the great things are for. If love isn’t in your heart, all you’re doing is trying to satisfy yourself and impress others. And that ain’t gonna get great.

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, the Apostle Paul is writing a letter to the church at Corinth and telling them to be confident in what they’ve learned. In spite of the false teachings going on around them, Paul was assuring them that the things they’re doing are indeed great – that they didn’t need anyone’s approval or commendation to prove it. Paul tells them that their ministry will do glorious (great) things, through Jesus Christ.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray to love others. Pray to be of service to those that you love. Pray for the strength and courage to take the first step in doing the things that are important to you. Don’t listen to the voice of the Evil One telling you that you can’t do great things. It’s one of his favorite and most effective tactics. But we know, as Christians who place our faith in Jesus, that the devil is just beating his head against a wall. He has already been defeated and he knows it.

Just one more thing… Can you picture the devil actually beating his head against a wall?

How great is that?

2 Corinthians 3:3-5

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.
