On the road of life, take the left fork and then the right fork for it is this method of navigation that will never direct you in a circle.

Deuteronomy 17:10-12

Have you ever started out going somewhere that you’re not completely sure how to get there and end up right back where you started?

We’ve all done that at one time or another, even though most male humans refuse to admit it. 🙂

Sometimes, navigation is less of a science and more of an art form.

And it seems like it’s always been that way.

The history of navigation is tied to some of the most important events in human history. The Wise Men found the Baby Jesus by following the Star of Bethlehem (of course, this is the most important one in this list – or any other list of human events that you might come up with!). Christopher Columbus discovered America by using a newfangled contraption called a compass. Neil Armstrong landed on the moon using satellites based on geo-spatial positioning.

Today, these methods are antiquated and rudimentary. Now, we tap the screen on our phone and Siri gives us verbal directions on how to get to where we’re going.

Today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse details some of the laws that God gave His people. Basically, these were the rules of navigation as it related to living a life that pleased God.

Today, our covenant with God is through Jesus but the underlying theme is the same. Follow His commands. Live our lives according to His word.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray to remain straight in your path to follow the commands of Jesus. Pray for forgiveness when we stray from the path that God shows us. Give praise to God for His mercy and grace that when we do stray, He wraps us in His love and forgives us.

And the next time you’re traveling in a circle, ask a woman for directions. She’ll tell you how to get there!

Deuteronomy 17:10-12

10 You must act according to the decisions they give you at the place the Lord will choose. Be careful to do everything they instruct you to do. 11 Act according to whatever they teach you and the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right or to the left. 12 Anyone who shows contempt for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering there to the Lord your God is to be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.
