It’s easy to give up… the hard part is getting up after you’ve given up.

Luke 13 : 23-25

There’s a commercial on TV that shows an elderly lady lying on the floor, calling out to anyone that can hear her.

“Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”

But, there’s a problem… there’s no one there to help.

Fortunately, the lady is using the product that the commercial is based on. She quickly presses the button on a small device attached to her necklace and the company who makes the product is immediately notified. We then see one of the company’s employees, who is well-dressed, attractive, and polite, quickly answer the phone and tell her…

“Don’t worry, help is on the way.”

Relieved to know that she’ll now be rescued, she gratefully says…

“Thank goodness, I’ve got Life Alert. TM

Okay, yeah it’s very predictable and as corny as can be, but think for a minute how relieved and happy you’d be if that actually happened to you – or someone you love.

It’s pretty much priceless in that scenario.

Well, I’m here to tell you that if you’re a Christian, you already have Life Alert TM and don’t have to pay one red cent to use it. And if you’re not a Christian, it’s there for the taking. God is offering it to you for free.

Today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse finds Jesus instructing a group of people to take heed and make every effort to follow God because if they don’t, they’ll be left on the outside looking in.

It’s basically a warning from the Savior of the World to follow Him – to obey His commandments and to let Him be the Lord of your Life. He’s telling them that He is only way to the Father, where you can live for eternity with Him. In essence, He’s telling them…

“When you fall, I’ll help you up.”

And, as he often did, Jesus explained himself through the use of an illustration. He told the group of people that His invitation for salvation was like being an owner of a house who invites people to come inside. But they refuse. Then, after the owner has closed the door, the people decide they want to come in.

That’s not the way it works.

The owner of the house tells the people…

“I don’t know you or where you come from.”

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray for the strength and the will to make every effort to please God. Turn from sin and use the power of the Holy Spirit to lead you through the darkness and into the light of God’s holiness. Pray for forgiveness of your sins and be washed in the blood of Jesus.

So, the next time you sin, press the little button on the chain wrapped around the neck of your spirit and repeat these words…

“Help, I’ve sinned and I can’t get up.”

Then, on the other end of the line, God – who is attractively dressed in radiant white, will politely say…

“Don’t worry, help is already there…”

And then, you’ll say…

“Praise God, I’ve got Life Alert and His name is Jesus.”

Luke 13 : 23-25

23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”

He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’

“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
