Don’t expect anyone to change if everyone remains silent.

Ephesians 4:29

Most people would agree that Albert Einstein was a pretty smart guy, right?

Silly question but – in addition to being perhaps the world’s most important mathematician and physicist, one thing you might not know about him is that he was known for coming up with some memorable one-liners.

If you read this blog, even on a remotely consistent basis, you’ll know this Blogmeister loves those too – and probably you do as well – otherwise you wouldn’t be here.

But let’s get back to the Einsteinisms…

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Yeah, he said that. And remember, this is coming from the man that discovered “Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared”, aka E=mc2.

And while his quote about insanity might not match the importance of his energy thingamajig, it’s certainly easier to understand.

However, in spite of his brilliance, Einstein was no better at one thing than you or I…

Basketball?

Actually, it isn’t basketball that I’m referring to, although if you Google “Balling Einstein”, you’ll find that some people think he would have been pretty good at it, should he have ever tried out for the Knicks.

No, the thing I’m talking about is that Einstein could no more read a mind than you or I can.

So let me ask you this… How many mind readers do you know?

Well again, if you read this blog, in particular yesterday’s post, you know that I’m totally convinced my Momma could do that – in addition to anything else she wanted to with her special Momma superpowers…

But to actually read a mind?

Think about it, what would that be like?

Is that something you’d really like to be able to do?

Whether or not you answer “Yes” or “No” to the question, the fact remains that your mind will never be “read”.

So what does that mean? What should we take from that knowledge?

It’s this: People will only understand what you’re wanting if you tell them or show them.

There’s no other way for it to happen.

Piggybacking on the Einsteinism, I’m going to change today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. quote to the following: “Insanity is expecting things to change when you keep your mouth shut.

So, if you’re dealing with a situation that needs to change, “Speak up!”

Speaking of which, today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse talks about the importance of speaking. Specifically, the Apostle Paul tells us to use only words that build each other up – nothing else should fall from our lips – so that, those who are listening might benefit.

On a scale of 1-10, how do you rate in terms of the words you use?

I’m thinking I’m somewhere around a 4, which ain’t very good.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray to be obedient to God by using the voice He gave you to be helpful to others – to not tear them down. Encourage others to do likewise.

And the next time you’re out shooting some hoops, you’d better play some lockdown “D” because the Big “E” might blow right past you on his way to the rim for a thunder dunk!

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
