Insecurity happens when the voices of past failure and present fear speak louder than the voice of future optimism.

Today’s Tiny Words Bible verse is one of the most quoted verses in the entire Bible. That does not mean it is one of the easiest verses to follow.

Insecurity happens for a number of reasons. Regret and sorrow over past failures (or at least those things perceived as failures) is a major source of fuel for insecurity. Fear is another. Of course, these are things that most people know yet they are tremendously difficult to defeat.

I’m reminded of the movie scene where the little devil on your shoulder keeps whispering in your ear. He will not let it rest. It is his job. That’s what he does. And he will keep doing it.

So, just for a moment, imagine the little devil on your shoulder… There he is just sitting there, constantly in your ear. And, he’s laughing because you are so easy to control. All he has to do is remind you of past failures and your mind receives it and you’re off to the races. If that doesn’t work, he’ll use fear. “Oh, you can’t do that because…” is one of his famous lines.

Okay, remember you’re still imagining. There’s the little devil… he’s still on your shoulder. Now, imagine your index finger and thumb are about ten times larger than they actually are. Now, join them together and apply some pressure. Then, please them right next to that pesky little devil and release the energy in one momentouos action and THUMP that devil into next week.

Didn’t that feel good?

We all get anxious. It’s natural. It’s the world we live in. But, to live more stress free, we have to learn to let God be God and we be His creation. He promised that He will take care of us. Does that mean that everything will always be perfect? No. But, we are made in His image. We have been delivered. Ride the coattails of victory through Jesus!

Jeremiah 29 : 11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
