Moments that define other moments are the crossroads of life where a “STOP” sign can be an opportunity to “GO”.

Most of the time, we don’t see them coming – they come out of nowhere.

What is “them” and “they”?

It’s unexpected moments

Another way to say it is they “come out of left field“. Some might refer to these moments as “life throwing us a curveball”… Forgive the multiple baseball references.

Many times, these unexpected things can negatively affect other things that we’ve planned on or are currently engaged in. Other times, they make things better.

So what do we do about them?

Like other Tiny Words. Big Life. posts, we pray.

You see, we’ll never stop unexpected moments from showing up. It’s what they do. And, life is basically a trek through years of unexpected moments.

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, the psalmist talks of stories of God’s chosen people that He delivered. They encountered many unexpected moments, just like we do.

What is the common theme of these stories? It’s this… God brought them out of their distress.

Today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. “AHA!” moment is to trust God in all your unexpected moments. They might come as a huge wave while you’re out on the seas. All around you, things are being tossed and turned. It seems as though there’s no way to steady them – to get things back under control.

Yes, there is.

Trust God. Trust His son, Jesus Christ. Ask Him to calm the seas. He will navigate you safely around the “STOP” signs into a world where the roads are marked with “GO”.

Psalm 107:23-28

23 Some went out on the sea in ships;
    they were merchants on the mighty waters.
24 They saw the works of the Lord,
    his wonderful deeds in the deep.
25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
    that lifted high the waves.
26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
    in their peril their courage melted away.
27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
    they were at their wits’ end.
28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he brought them out of their distress.
