Obedience to God draws you nearer to His blessing while disobedience draws you nearer to His wrath.

Deuteronomy 28:15

The concept of “sin” is being swept under the rug in many churches today.

It seems that some preachers don’t want to talk about it. They’re afraid it will “offend” someone.

What they’re missing is – in the humble opinion of this Blogmeister, that’s the entire point of talking about it. All sinners, regardless of what their sin is, should be offended by the guilt of their sin – not in the sense that they didn’t commit the sin but rather at their own bent toward self-rule and unrighteousness. When we’re offended by our sin, our heart becomes contrite which opens the door for us to pray earnestly for forgiveness. In other words, an offended sinner should create a contrite heart which leads to a repentant spirit. And if we’re truly repentant, we should be moved to stop the sin – not expect God to turn His back.

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, Moses is warning God’s chosen people, the Israelites, just before they enter The Land of Canaan, that their future actions will result in either blessings or curses from God. While I could list the blessings and the curses, suffice to say that the blessings are good and the curses are bad.

To put it another way, Moses is telling his people that God’s wrath will be meted out to those who don’t follow His commandments.

In other words, you’ll be punished for your sins.

Fast forward to today… God has not changed. Sin is still sin and it will be punished. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. “AHA!” moment is this: Be thankful to God that His commandments are written plainly for us to see. Pray to be convicted and offended by all your sin – not just the ones that our society says are wrong. Trust ONLY in the Holy Bible – God’s word – for your instruction manual on living. For it is written, many false prophets will come in “sheep’s clothing” but in reality, they are “ravenous wolves” out to destroy your soul.

It doesn’t get much plainer than that.

However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you.
