If God was on Twitter, would you be worthy of Him following you?

Luke 5:17-20

First of all, I’m not sure that Twitter would allow God to have an account… They’d probably ban Him but, I’ve got a feeling He could get back on if He wanted to.

But, let’s assume for the sake of this post, that God has an account on Twitter.

Would He follow you?

Would you follow Him?

Before we answer those questions, let’s make sure we’re straight on something very important. Salvation Disclaimer: God loves everyone. We don’t receive His love based on the things we do. We are saved through His son, and only through His son, not by our works or the lack thereof.

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, the Apostle Luke writes about the historical account of Jesus ministering in a small town. People had come from far and wide to see him in hopes that He would heal them or someone they brought with them. Such was the case in today’s scripture.

One quick side note… Social Media has distorted the word “friend”. While that’s a topic for a different post, suffice to say that when Jesus said “friend”, he meant it as something very personal, something that meant you can count on Him. With Jesus as your friend, you never have to worry about being alone.

Why did He use that term? Well, for starters, the men He was talking to had shown great faith by getting up on the roof of the building that Jesus was in, and lowering their “friend” down, through a hole in the roof, into the room where Jesus was. Seeing their faith and love for their friend, Jesus referred to them as His friend and then He healed the friend they brought.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: You can’t hide behind a keyboard in your relationship with Jesus. He knows everything you do… everything you think. To be called a friend of Jesus requires living a life of purity. That doesn’t mean that we are sinless, but rather, we struggle when we commit sin and we humbly and truthfully seek forgiveness from our Creator.

So, the next time you go to Twitter, step out from behind the keyboard. Be bold in your friendship with God.

And be sure of this; God is on Twitter… You’re either following Him or you’re not.

Luke 5:17-20

17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. 20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
