The words of a person today are often different than their words tomorrow.

Ephesians 4:17-25

My apologies in advance to those who feel that any reference to gender is a bad thing… I’m not one of them but anyway…

“It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.”

Those of us who are lucky enough to have a woman in our lives (hopefully, that’s all of us), we know this to be true. (Whether or not you agree with it doesn’t matter – they’re gonna do it anyway!)

The point of today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. quote is not really a bad thing or a good thing… It’s just a thing.

And just so I don’t get in trouble with the wonderful women in my life, I’ll throw this out there.

Men can change their mind as well… assuming they have one.

So, don’t be surprised or upset when someone changes their mind. We all do it. It’s part of life. As my son’s favorite band, The Eagles, would say in one of their long list of hits, “Get Over It”.

Okay, enough talk about changing our minds.

What about changing our hearts?

In today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse, the Apostle Paul is reminding the Christians in the church at Ephesus to live their lives different from the other Gentiles who do not know God. He tells them that they should “put off your old self and put on the new self“.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray to live a changed life. When we know Jesus and live for Him, our lives should reflect that. We should put off our old ways and act according to the teachings of Jesus. Pray to heed the conviction of our sin and praise God Our Father for His love within us – which is the basis of our change. As Paul says, we should be made new in the attitude of our minds.

And one final takeaway (for all the men)… The next time a woman in your life changes her mind, just roll with it… It won’t last long… tomorrow will be here before you know it.

Ephesians 4:17-25

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
