Nothing can make you do anything and only you can make yourself do nothing.

Romans 1:18-21

My Dad was the epitome of the meaning behind today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. quote.

He was always doing something. And it was rarely something for himself. He was the most generous and loving man I’ve ever known.

By the grace and mercy of God, he’s in Heaven today. And if there’s a roof that needs fixing, he’ll be there with a hammer. If there’s a fire that needs dousing, he’ll bring the water.

Of course, we know there’s no fires or leaky roofs in Heaven but it’s a wonderful image I have of my Dad doing the work that needs to be done while Jesus looks on saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.

On this Father’s Day, I’m so thankful to God for giving him to us for the time we had.

Today’s Tiny Words. Big Life. Bible verse finds the Apostle Paul warning us that God’s holy and righteous judgement, aka wrath, will be handed down to those that do nothing and to those that do something.

The “do nothingers” are those that know about God’s word but refuse to acknowledge it.

The “do somethingers” are those that know about God’s word but live their lives in wickedness.

Either way, there’s no excuse.

As the TWBL quote says, only you can determine how you live your life.

The Tiny Words. Big Life. takeaway is this: Pray to be moved by the spirit to do something for God’s kingdom. Pray that God will use what you do to His glory. Give thanks and praise to Him for loving us enough to offer eternal salvation through His son, Jesus Christ.

On that, I’ll close because I have a leaky roof that needs fixing and a raging fire that needs to be put out.

If my Dad were here, he’d be the first to help and the last to leave. And more importantly, he’d bring the love of God in his toolbox.

Romans 1:18-21

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
